beans starting to climb - this is Joe's new design for our trellises

Our friends Theresa and Adam, from Savannah, and their daughters, Emma and Anna, came for a visit over the weekend.  Me & Emma down at the pond.

Indigo's Bday in 5 Days

I'm expecting a house full of party-goers - including my grandparents visiting us in Cairo for the first time.

And so you can image what I'm up to!  Getting my house 'Grandma' clean.  Working thru my to-do list.  Finishing a tiny party dress & crown.  Making a party menu.  And deciding on what kind of cake to make!  This is also Levi's last week of school before summer break.  Busy week.

garden in May

early morning in the garden - a serious helper - planting rows & rows of bush beans to fill in some empty real estate

several pounds of new potatoes from the garden

the first row of tomatoes, planted in February, are my height now

Moonglow - heirloom variety tomato

cherry tomato

the best tomato patch we've ever grown - 44 plants in all

on the way to the beeyard

homegrown sprouts - our favorite way to eat them? - on a avocado/sprout/toasted cheese sammich of course

Relay for Life

We met Papa at the Relay for Life ceremony this evening - he is a cancer survivor & participated in the first lap around the track.  It was good to be there with him in this honor.

In our outing this evening we saw several folks we knew & made several new connections - it is in these subtle little exchanges that I feel a new chapter in our life here is taking root = we are becoming 'part of'.

Papa loves Indigo & Levi dearly - we visit with him daily.

Nice Bass

He's getting good at casting a line - and has been spending a good bit of time keeping his tackle organized.
