Clean Buns

Levi's cord stump fell off Sunday & so last night we got in the bath for the first time. He kicked his feet & enjoyed it to start with... but by the end he was wailing!

Someone's in the Hammock!!

The hammock is working great... Levi's asleep in it now.

Well, it wasn't the homebirth we had planned, but it was a VERY beautiful birth at Athens Regional. Total labor, from first contraction to birth, was 8 hours. After laboring for 4 hours at home, the baby's heart beat was found to be very low & it was decided that a transfer to the hospital was necessary.

We had many of the things happen at the hospital that we had wanted at home... a natural childbirth with no medication, laboring in water, Joe caught Levi, and the placenta was left attached for 1.5 hours. After the birth he was never taken from our arms. I got to cut the cord & we brought the placenta home to plant with a new tree in the yard. We were home the next day.

We've just passed the three day mark & things are progressing. He's sleeping good (dare I say that and jinks it). My breastmilk came in yesterday & he's really starting to get the hang of this eating thing.

A new Father & Son

Look at all that dark hair!

Our chili pepper is still roasting...

Nothing on the homefront yet... 11 days left. Have felt a few little pains but nothing with much punch. I still don't think the baby has dropped down... though that's not a true indicator, as some will drop weeks before birth and others only a few hours.

I'm finishing work on the rocker for the nursery today & sanding the last coat of paint on the baby's dresser... keeping me busy & passing the time.

Visit with Debi

We went by Debi's today after our childbirth class & had one of our last prenatal visits. These are some shots of us listening to the baby's heart rate, which was 156 today. The baby is still head down & on the right side, in the ROA (right occiput anterior) position... which is the second most common fetal position. Everything looks good! Baby's in the 6.5-7.0 pound range now.

Tummy Pics

We've gotten several requests for more tummy pics....so voila!

Icy Thursday

Well, the snow just missed us to the north! But, this little bit of ice was enough to close UGA for the day. Coffee's on and I'm burrowed up in a quilt while Mama snoozes away in the bedroom. I'm watching my poor birds and feeling guilty for running out of bird feed......

Nicole brought Grady the G-man by yesterday and he field tested the hammock by falling asleep in it....so that's a good sign.
