Locally Grown sales

I've started making a few sales at Locally Grown in the past month & we're planting more of a 'production' garden this year & an entire section for cut flowers. I'm a bit excited to see how it will go - my first year (of many I hope) doing 'what I really want to do' = bringing in a little income growing plants/veggies/flowers organically

fresh cut mint, tied into bundles, waiting to go to market

a 'seasonal flower arrangement' - the irises are just opening up Thursday morning before being taken to the market

Fun in the yard

Some pics from the yard the last few days. When I get in in the afternoon, we all usually go play outside and monkey around in the garden or in the yard. I had "borrowed" some of these blue wildflowers (species as yet undetermined) from the side of the road and brought them home for Molly's arrangement. The extras got transplanted. Levi watered them for us.......

Mr. Sunshine
See how much help he is?
Blurry, but cute.

It would be kinda funny to turn the water on right now.

Shots from the last few days around our house - many of my 'fancy' irises are in bloom... several are from a big order I got from Iris City Gardens a couple years back - they're a small family operation out of Primm Springs, Tennessee (near Nashville) growning all sorts of irises - this year I've gotten to see many of the plants I bought from them mature & bloom...

"Boomerang"

"Junaluska"

I've got a partial bed of these - they're different from the shorter white irises up in the front bed - they are very fragrant (like lemons) and are very tall - these were passed along to me from an old neighbor we once had...

another "Boomerang" with more pink

a spider wort thrown in for good measure - these were from Joe's Nana Mott's yard - if you click on the picture to enlarge it, you'll see I also gotta little fly sitting in the left flower - nice shot

"Alice Harding"

"Thornbird" - one of my favorite because of its crazy pointy purple beards - whenever I look at it I think of a waxed mustache... bizzare I know

my own little bedbug fast asleep - this is during naptime today - which usually equates to an hour of uninterrupted time to work outside - I just leave the back sliding glass door open a bit so he can give me a shout when he wakes up

simply delicious - I've been getting organic frozen blueberries from Locally Grown lately - I've perfected the blueberry smoothie over the last few days - my secret? a little drizzle of vanilla extract into the blender with all the other good stuff - it's absolutely heavenly - Levi & I have shared two of these already today

It ain't easy being Levi

Munchie's having a tough time the last few days.....He's cutting four molars at the same time AND he acquired a cold. To top it off, yesterday he pulled the crockpot (empty) off the countertop and it hit him smack in the forehead.

Result= Goose egg on his forehead and a bloody nose.

Then last night he crawls up in my chair and dives out head first, but at least he landed on carpet. Let's see....he climbed up on the trunk and got stuck behind the futon....there's more I just can't remember.....

I made it til 6 or so before I got stitches. I'm willing to bet he doesn't make it that long, hehe.

Just some random pictures....the first few are of a fun collander-wearing night. Entertainment is where you find it! The next few are of Levi's first cane syrup experiment....it was a resounding success! No youngun of mine is gonna eat that fake maple-corn syrup stuff. Hooray sugar cane!

Today I am feeling frazzled - we're going thru childcare providers like wildfire - #3 started today (the third in as many months) - I really like her, but it's just the readjustment of trying to get in a daily routine with someone new - I've been thinking about out-of-home daycare again - maybe it would be a better solution? - we looked around at the first of the year & I did find one close to the house that would work - aftering having Levi in-home for so long it's a tough decision to make - however, I'm starting to feel very burnt out - wanting some real time to work away from him
