gobble gobble

These are turkey hunting videos of Levi & Joe from spring 2013.  Just ran across them & wanted to save them here.
He's grown up so much in just the last 10 months since these were taken.

Winter Hangout

Our favorite hangout:  the children's wing at our local library.
I love that we walk in & Mrs. Theresa knows the kids by name.
Indigo digs the touch screens on the computers.

Jan 7th

My crafty helper organizing pins in the sewing room on a cold day.

My little bookworm up reading until all hours during his winter break from school.  Plowing thru chapter book now.  Finishing up the Magic Treehouse series, dabbling with Nancy Drew, a couple westerns, lots of Indians & artifacts, and a non-fiction about a girl living during WWII.  I love it.

2nd of Jan

We went to the Moganville rock quarry while home - this is getting to be a regular thing for us while home - fossil hunting at various abandoned quarries.  It helps that my Dad is a geologist & can explain how the fossils we find are from an ancient sea floor.  This quarry yield lots of fossilized coral and 'clam shells'.

Part of this quarry has filled in with water - while I was in high school kids would come here to party.

Joe shot a buck a few days ago.
He & Levi followed the blood trail & Levi was the one to find it.

Time to order seeds.  Pouring over catalogs.

Levi in front of the Ecology Department - where I went to college & worked for a number of years.

Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice today & it feels like spring here.  The windows are open & laundry drying outside (I've been living sans dryer since August, by choice).
Levi & Joe are using the straw rake on the back of the lawnmower & gathering piles & piles of pine straw.  We'll use it to keep all the landscaped beds around the house looking fresh.
We're having a party here tomorrow for Joe's family & are expecting 17 total - so some of today will be about getting ready.
Indi is using clay on the backporch & has created pages of hand and foot prints.
Tonight will be a fire & stouts.  We're burning a brush pile over one year in the making.  Maybe we'll stay out late enough to watch this waning moon rise.
