One Year In

The 1st of July has come & gone, so we've now been here one year.

We daydreamed when we first arrived about the life we could make here.  So I smile now at meals we sit down, where everything on the plate came from our very own garden.

It's good to take a look around one year in.  What's working.  What's not.  How to do things different next year.

A respectable haul from our organic stand of 'White Eagle' Cherokee corn.  We used 'Garden Tone' organic fertilizer, mushroom compost, and once the corn was up, cottonseed meal.

white & some blue kernels

The plan was to dry this out to make cornmeal.  We opted instead to cream it all & then freeze.  As always, our handy helper.
