Fishing the Ogeechee with Daddy

A few pictures from a recent redbreast fishing trip on the Ogeechee, near the house. As long as there are ample supplies of strawberry jam and crackers, he's content to stay in the boat for hours.

Still for a Moment

Joe's sister Katy took this pic on Easter morn - I love it!

Spring Cleaning

today. Completely tossing some rooms & starting over. I love that feeling.
Mowed the grass yesterday & the garden beds just 'pop' now - looking fresh & well kept. Makes me smile & feel good about all the hours spent working on them. Butternut & pumpkin vines beginning to wander. Easy cooler day & have the windows open - enjoying the cleaning inside while I can look out to the yard nice & tidy.

Coreopsis

Now...

A couple weeks ago...

I'm having a great time this year creating garden beds in a yard that actually gets sun - the soil here is amazing - black & so easy to work - I also have an eye to my ultimate goal: organic farming on a large enough scale to make it a small business - my experimenting with coreopsis tells me it's a great landscaping plant, but as for cut-flower production = it is a bit short-stemmed

Levi's first turkey hunt

I took Levi on his first "turkey hunt" this morning before work. We got up together at 0530, put on our camo, and talked about our game plan. We got coffee for me, raisins and water for him, and took off for the local wilds. He had to bring his longbow, "just cause"......
His very first hunt, and we heard two birds gobble on a morning where the weather was less than perfect. I consider that a good omen for our future. We learned about turkey tracks, strut marks, watched some birds, owl hooted, and picked up a discarded can for recycling.
As we were leaving the woods, he looked at me and said, "I like turkey hunting too, Daddy-Joe".

Pointing out the gobbling bird.....

Zucchini Farmer

The zucchini seeds Levi planted last week came up today - he's checked on them a dozen times today & I thought he'd drown them with all the waterings...

Where oh where are we?

Slackin'! Enjoying this perfect spring weather. Not too hot - not too cold. Just returning from a weekend in Wildwood. Haven't even looked at all the pictures taken yet. Happy May!
